RASE is a 501(c)3 public, non-profit organization which was founded in 2008 to provide support and contribute to the human development of under developed regions (Africa) through the solicitation of used electronic and medical equipment. This equipment is refurbished and ship to Africa to be distributed to schools and hospitals. The idea to start such an organization came from Dr. Muriel Yeboah, Director and co-founder.
According to her, she never used a computer till she came to graduate school in the United States, and there are thousands of students in Africa and other parts of the world who have never seen computers, let alone use one. Through her studies in the United States, Dr. Yeboah has realized the importance of both education and healthcare to individuals, communities, and national development. It is in this vein that she wants to contribute to the health and educational needs of Africa. Muriel collaborated with Mia Murray and together, they incorporated RASE in the state of Tennessee.
Though RASE is still in its take-off stages, it strives to achieve its goals by reducing environmental impact in developed countries by reusing the tons of resources that can be reused but trashed and wasted. We will contribute to saving lives and also give people the basic resources they need for their individual development.
Our Mission Statement
RASE is a non-profit organization incorporated in the USA and Ghana. The organization is dedicated to improving the human well-being of less fortunate Africans through education and healthcare needs. We do this through the solicitation of used electronic equipment, books, and school supplies which are either refurbished (if need be) or sent to schools in Africa. We also organize mission trips to Africa with volunteers from around the world who are interested in either teaching in schools or working in healthcare facilities in Ghana.
Our Vision Statement
RASE aspires to contribute to the improvement of the educational and health development of Africans. We would like to see that most children in Africa are equipped with the basic school needs for education and also receive good health status. As we are all aware, in this 21st century, education is the key to success, and modern education requires the use of technological skills such as computers. Our school supplies program, computer donations, and used text books programs go a long way in contributing to this education goal. The development of technology, skills and overall health of the people is necessary for the improvement of Africans in order for them to have the ability to compete in a global economy. We are starting with Ghana right now but we hope to reach all the countries in Africa with time.
